Re: Looking for a good sled/

If you want to build your own kite, there are numerous plans available. Check here for sleds, or here for foils. Of the foil plans, I'd recommend the Mini-Mock (built two), the Kevin Nichel's flow form, the Peter Lynn Pilot or the FF04a. I've listed the recommendations in order of difficulty to bui...

Re: SLK art

BTW, why limit the art kite thread to SLKs - there's a whole Masterpiece section over on the Revkites site with many different variations, and I'm sure there's plenty of dual line art items as well. No intention on leaving any possibilities out. I just called it art because that's what I saw it as....

SLK art

I am also looking into unique beautiful SLK's. I came across a designer from Tasmania, Aus, Robert Brasington. His stuff looks incredible. Does anyone collect/fly unique or artistic SLK's?

Maybe one that looks like this? :SLKani:

Looking for a good sled/

Looking for a good sled or parafoil to start with, but keep using to lift laundry later on. :flex: Any suggestions or what do you use?

Re: Grand Haven, MI

Me - skipping work (most of the day) and David - school (all day) tomorrow . . . .   8-) Why not. The school years almost over and my kids already are getting slack work. That's when I pull out the old "In my day..." I know now why my parents did it. It's ...

Re: Grand Haven, MI

Sorry. Shot down. Just too much going on Sat as well. I guess Mothers Day didn't earn me as many points as I had hoped or the waiting period hasn't expired yet.

Re: Grand Haven, MI

The weather looks like it's is going to be absolutely AWESOME! I got my weekends mixed up. No scout trip, but activities Friday and Sunday. We had a good Mothers day so I'm going to try to negotiate a day trip to Grand Haven. If I can leave by 6 am, I can do the 4 hours each way in a day. If I can g...

Re: Grand Haven, MI

I broke the spine on my Quantum today and have to build my spare parts inventory, but I have a backup. Soccer and other kids activities prevent me from being able to join you though. I have to get down to northerly island sometime this summer though. I think that would be awesome. I think I can prop...

Re: Grand Haven, MI

Sounds like fun. I wish I could go. I will be with the boy scouts again that weekend. I was in Lansing this week and actually called MacKite thinking I would have time to zip down I-96 to stop by their shop. No such luck, but the festival sounds like a blast. Steve, tell us how it was. Take pictures.

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?

Great points. I am new to this, but I was feeling full of myself while camping with the Boy Scouts in some stormy weather Friday night/Saturday morning. The morning was cold and windy, but I took advantage of it while the coffee brewed. My scout leaders thought I was a little goofy, but I'll take so...

Dare I say the "Darkside" is only for the "fair "weather" minded?

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?

Maybe lousy weather for you Rev people, but good for some just plain fun parafoil flying. It's a good full body workout if you have a big enough kite. If the grass is wet enough you slide just fine. Sure, maybe some hurt pride a couple of times, but overall pretty successful.

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?

My secret field is Belle Vue Park in Sugar Grove. There is a better park that I haven't gone out to because I haven't needed to but I will sometime. It is the Sugar Grove Sports Complex. It's at the NW corner of Aurora airport. It is surrounded by corn fields and a couple of miles away from me. Mayb...

Doing my part to support our men in uniform

I just wanted to post my satisfaction and a good thing that happened to me since I started flying. I was flying in my "secret field", as goestoeleven puts it, this afternoon and I see a soldier in his BDU's come onto the field with his teenage son, about 16-17. They were obviously having l...

Re: Hi from a brand spanking new kite flier

Hey there. Thanks again for the time you took to talk with me. It was my first "festival", I guess. I had a good time, but I wish I the winds were a little better and maybe some more room to fly. I just get nervous flying around a lot of people, especially children. My skills aren't up to ...

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?

No secret place, it's right outside my window. What so hard about that?

I'm actually out of town at a Scout campout next weekend, but thanks anyway. I hope we can schedule something soon. It's best when the winds are due east or west. North/South winds aren't as consistent, but still plentiful.

Re: Hi just joined My kite flys me

So that's what you call it. We've got a couple of guys out here that I see doing it from a farm with a polo field. I know. A polo field. If I see them again, I'll have to stop and ask them about it. Looks pretty cool (and intimidating). I'm comfortable with my legs on the ground.

Welcome to IKE.
