Steve, what did you use for the knob? It looks really neat.

Re: Club Fly - Saturday 11/17/2012

I will see if I can make that date. I haven't been downtown in forever and this would be the perfect reason to go.

Say, it's Tmadz (Todd). You work in St Charles? I am close to there usually. Do you fly at the soccer fields near the entrance? Maybe we can fly together sometime.

Re: U-MAKE 2013

I went back and reread the expected instructors. It is well worth the money just to see and hear Simon Crafts (repeated as champ kite maker this year) and Barbara Meyer. I just really don't think i can make the time for the whole weekend.

Re: JUST SIGNED UP

Welcome to the club. I do know of a few people on the eastern side of MI who are dual line fliers. Not knowing if you're interested in single line (SLK), dual line or quad line, I could tell you how to get in touch with them. Tell us more about what you're interested in.

Re: Getting logged out?

It's been happening to me, but over a period of a day. It's been happening with all of my websites. I wasn't sure if my IE browser was setup differently or what it was. I haven't tried Chrome or Firefow, but I will now.

Re: Suggestions on a good starter Rev

Thanks gang. Lots of valuable information. I didn't know which length was standard. I know how to do the leaders, but I didn't know about the snagless handles. That'll be worth it to convert them. Thanks Jynx. Again, this kite'll be for my son so he's going to have to learn setup, takedown and basic...

Re: Suggestions on a good starter Rev

High School soccer is ending soon and I want him to keep going outside until winter or spring soccer starts. The reason I asked about sail was because of the higher winds were having. I want him to be able to fly it in all weather. He won't need to worry about summer winds until next July hopefully....

Suggestions on a good starter Rev

Alright, before I hear it, this isn't for me. Since the retreat my son, Brendan, has been talking about Rev's. (a poor, misguided child ;) ) So, my question is what would be a good rev to start him on. I have been catching up with the lingo and think a standard EXP or a B series 2 would be good, but...

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Thanks to everyone for the camaderie, flying and fun. My son Brendan had a great time and was excited to fly a Rev. He did well since he wasn't ruined by dual line hand movements like me. He's been asking for Rev now. This is what is happening to my... Wallet wallet wallet wallet wallet wallet . :sh...

You can't look at forecasts until 24 hours in advance and even then the timing of the winds can change dramatically.

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

I'm sorry, but I feel like a high schooler. I'm very excited to get out and fly with a bunch of people. It's like we're making the day after prom party plans. I don't know what it'll be like with so many kiters in one location, not there for a festival. Hoping for some good winds.

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Steve, what shape is the shaft on the winder? If it's got sides, we could hook up some kind of adapter to wind it. You can buy keyless drill chuck replacements that fit 1/2" or larger, but pricey.

I'm planning on getting there bright and early and stay as late as I can since I only have one day.

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Can people bring their stakes / sand anchors, and line sets (ideally 80-100lb and greater), and help me with the flight? I have two large sand anchors. Also have some extra long fiberglass kite stakes (about 15-18in). They work great for some stronger kites. I've already tested them at the beach. I...
