Re: DuKane area club fly Aug 19 or 20

I just got a last minute showing so flying today is out too. I have to finish cleaning up yard and tidy house. Hopefuly I can do it another time soon. Good luck on your search Steve. Ill be sitting n m lawn chair in the parking lot at lunch hoping for a clear sky. Either way, it'll get dark. Whether...

Re: DuKane area club fly Aug 19 or 20

Anyonetrvelling west, I'd check the weather to see the propability of clear skies. Weather.com was calling lots of cloud cover west. i.e. KS, MO. Maybe KY, TN would be better

Re: DuKane area club fly Aug 19 or 20

I have 2 confirmed showings for Saturday, so that's out for me. That makes Sunday questionable. I'll let you know. Oregon State doesn't go back for another month, but my son is going back to campus for the eclipse. Corvallis, OR is basically ground zero. I'm not sure about this plan, but he said the...

Re: DuKane area club fly Aug 19 or 20

I was hoping somewhere out west, but depending on my schedule and the wind, I could be convinced to travel. I'm selling my house so it all depends on if I have a showing or not.

DuKane area club fly Aug 19 or 20

Been quiet here, as is usual, during the high summer, but was wondering if anyone is interested in club fly this weekend? Timing is flexible,

Re: NYM single vent vs double vent

Portland. Lots happened over the last 1.5 yrs. Parents are now gone and older kids in college, so we're changing our life. I'd love to have a local fly soon so we can catch up. I know its festival season.

Re: NYM single vent vs double vent

Thanks Steve, but I'm probably not going to be around. I haven't announced it yet, but I'm moving west. Just wondering. I've read a lot about sail flutter and noise. I may save up for a Bazzer Phoenix. Anyone have one of those they can share info about?

NYM single vent vs double vent

I got a line on a new single or double vent NYM and I'm trying to figure which I'd rather like. I have no experience with the NYM and I'm wondering if anyone has advice as to the difference between the two. I currently have a B-series Std through full vent, so I want to know how the NYM feels and ha...

Re: Pontiac Club / Fun fly - July 15th

I'm starting to get back into the scene, but alas, I'll be out of town visiting my family. I've been looking for a club fly. Any club fly, but the timing is bad.

Evil man. I like the fire one as well, but my kite budget has been put on hold until further notice.

Re: Saturday or Sunday Nov 14, 15 Fly?

Going to be working on the yard today, so maybe tomorrow. TMadz - my advice - the project and presentation are at least as important if not more important than the table score. The kids all want to work on the table game . . . . Which competition are you attending? I'm missing ours as I'll have to ...

Re: How do you wind your lines?

I'm confused that Mike is asking this most of all. Kinda shakes my confidence a little bit. Anyways, I wind straight. I wouldn't want to do figure 8 with the extra two lines. I usually have to figure out a couple of easy twists, but that's all.

Re: Possible Sugar Grove kite day

I had a 11ft ghost and a Gomberg sled up. The lines got crossed, but one got cut near the top of the line and one actually snapped at the stake. The wind was very unstable and gusty. I usually wouldn't have worried about the line strength, but they broke at the same time which was really weird. Bill...

Re: Possible Sugar Grove kite day

I've been too busy. Thanks for the photos Bill. I will say that there were plenty of families, just in other parts of the fields. They were able to use the entire grassy area on the side of the middle school, the football field and the new park which are probably close to 20 acres in all. There were...

I'll have to bring the strong line for sure, Swannie.

Re: Possible Sugar Grove kite day

Yeah. I plan on being there. I have no idea what to expect. Evidently there's lots planned. I just hope they gave some thought about the layout.
