Smileys

Hey y'all, I haven't heard anything about the new smileys... Click on "View All Emoticons" when you're replying. This is the next kite on my list of things to make: :SLKani: Either a square kite or I'll put the logo on a parafoil. Maybe a fighter kite. Could just use sharpies to draw the l...

Re: Gary Engvall

I heartily second that.
I've used his sewing 101 to get started on sewing.
I used his Rok plans for the basis of my Rok.
I also made the catherine wheel and the circoflex from his plans.
All fly great.

Re: Pfaff

Thanks Chris, good article.
Those 10 year old Pfaffs are selling for $600 on ebay and many a kite builder swears by them.
I'd like one someday, but for now, I'm still a proud member of the 100' kite club (kites look great on the end of 100 feet of string).

Re: Flowform

I'd also add that flowforms typically have venting holes on the bottom surface (sometime the top too?) Flowforms also tend to have simpler bridles. The bridle is single row of attachements. Parafoils tend to have 2 or 3 rows of bridle attachments. Flowforms are supposed to be more stable. Flowforms ...

Indian fighter.

You can get them very cheaply here.
One of these days I'm going to order a bunch and bring them to a club fly to play with.

Re: 120' lines

Even after stretching the lines they will still stretch some more when you fly in 30 mph winds  Then reverse top and bottom lines and fly some more. Then even up the lines. After the last club fly the top lines on my 120' gained an additional 4". Instructions in brief: The secret is to m...

Re: Kite boarding

What Babbman says is true. Most folks I've seen doing power kiting have a harness and control bar. The Rev 4-8 flys like a power kite, not much like a rev. The 2-4 feels more like a Rev, though it has much less power than the 4-8. You already know how to fly the Rev so that's an advantage over the d...

Still using DOS buddy? :| :| Ahhh, the old days, I couldn't afford a modem for my Mac, so I did dial-up at 110 baud by connecting an old Apple ][ with a modem up to my Macintosh and writing a program on the apple ][ to act as a modem for the Mac. This was before WWW. There was a computer in Hawaii ...

Do you want to do tricks or precision or just have fun flying around?
We need to get Tom, the guy that's been doing some real nice dual-line stuff at the last couple festivals to join our group.
Dan, from Kentucky, is also very knowledgeable. I'll try to get him to join our group as well.
