Re: Patches

People seem to either love or hate patches, I don't love them. I have patches from three continents thrown in misc. drawers and boxes. It seems someone mayget stuck with a whole lot of patches.

Re: 2008 Festivals

Don't forget Larry Day's event in Clear Lake, IA I have it down as Feb 17, not sure where I got that date. Also Toby's ice fly, no date there. I am a little less enthusiastic about Decatur. The big kite fliers are on their own field seperated from the rest of the festival. I for one did not feel a p...

Re: Wayne, IL Festival

MKS (Minnesota) has or at least had a lead kite award. I almost won it when a flow form I was flying turned 90 degrees and swept the field cutting down five other kites.

One Sky, One World - Fitchburg, WI

This is just a fun fly, nothing organized, except maybe a drum circle....... (I have no idea if it was orgnized or impromptu) From their press release: On Sunday, October 14th, kitefliers, peace and environmental activists will gather at McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg for the 22nd annual Internationa...

Re: DeKalb Kite Festival

It all started with a freak gust of wind that rolled the barrel past the cones. In telling people the it was not a problem if it rolled over them I created a monster. A couple of people who had scrambled out of the way asked if they could let it roll over them. The rest was inevitable, when it got t...

Hey Al, Fern said your pilot kite disappeared? So very sorry to hear that.

The white pilot was cut, but it was recovered.

I am trying to get moving to unload the kites, they may have to wait a day or two.

Alan Sparling is one of the most active giant kite fliers in the world, appearing at over twenty five events each year. He has been an invited guest at festivals on three continents. He has brought three 90 foot long show kites, (an octopus, a gecko and a trilobite), the giant barrel, and several &q...

Does a glass encrusted line cut through kevlar?

Manja probably would win, so I guess I would need to make kevlar manja to keep the advantage,

Re: Who's Coming To Dekalb?

The poll does not appear to show who voted which way. I will be there, probably grumbling about how early I had to get up. If I am going to put up three big pieces, plus the barrel, plus some mid size pieces, I will definitely be needing help at the end of the day or if the weather turns ugly. So as...

Yes, that is the big kite field at the New York Kite Festival.

Jerry McGuire, Dennis Hawley and Kelly Mayhew, Pete Dolphin, Mike Petty and Don Pignolet, Cliff Quinn and myself filled up the field.

Dan,

I am doing a small amount of KAP, I have built Brook's Autokap rig and his basic rig. Taken
a few images, just never seem to find the time to do as much as I want to.

Re: Consignment Stuff

It is a ground bouncer and inflates in light winds (exactly how light I don;t know as I have
not seen my wind meter in years). The caterpillar has found a new home, however it still
will probably be in Dekalb. Hopefully I will have a replacement soon.
