Re: Vertical rods question

You can mix & match all you want to change the kites flexibility & weight. Some people even mix the rods in the leading edge, using a stiffer center and lighter outers, or vice-versa. Experimentation will help you better understand the performance characteristics of the sail you are using in...

A good day at Busse Woods -- Bill Meier and I. Midvent wind, fading in and out but fairly smooth compared to most days in the Midwest. 3M 9460 Transfer Tape

I needed to get some. Minimum order was $150. Had to get 10 rolls. With shipping each roll cost about $17.50, 5.5mm x 60 yards. If anyone needs some, PM me. I don't need 10 rolls, and it has a shelf life of 24 months if not in airtight packaging.

I got grounded from buying kites. The wife met my new Benson for the first time at an event this weekend and she wasn't supper happy about it. She hasn't met the two new revs yet. Not quite sure how I'll work those in. Try this, it might work. "Oh, I've had those for years. Just never flew the...

Everyone is invited to the IKE kite retreat in September. Bring a kite, bring the family. Good times for all.

In the photos it looks like the field could have used some mowing. Did you have problems snagging up on the rough stuff? I was planning to attend, but the vehicle I was going to use became unavailable at the last minute.

Flew my 135-gram home-made today in wind I would estimate at 0.5 to 1.0 mph that was quite smooth. Finally was able to get the wind I needed to make the bridle adjustments that it needed and test the results. One more tweak to make at home and it'll be good to go. I forgot to bring the camera again,...

I would like to go to Hoover, but I need a ride. I will pay 100% of the fuel cost round trip. If anyone is interested in picking me up, please post up here.

Thank You.

Re: Wildwood NJ International Kite Fest May 22-25

I've never been, but am considering going this year. It's one of the oldest, biggest and best in the country from the information I've seen over the last few years. All of the east coast flyers will be there, some of the best in the country, flying SLK, DLK and QLK kites. Team 180GO! will be there d...

Testes testing -- Dick -- Testes testing.

Yes, it does. It seems to have no problem with testicles. I did capitalize it. Apparently has an issue with upper case four-letter words. Fuck.

Look, it turned the f-word into a period. Its almost like having to learn another language!

Re: GuildWorks Syndergy Deca

That looks great. Appears to be properly assembled and tensioned. You did one helluva job. With your level of patience you should be able to learn how to fly it with no problem.

Grandpa has probably flown it before, or other quad-line kites. He's the one to show you how it's done.

Re: GuildWorks Syndergy Deca

I believe it's a Deca 6, but I could be wrong. I also remember the Deca flying in DeKalb about 4 years ago, and how gracefully it moved. The guy flying it was very good with that kite. The only other one I've seen in person was Steve's at the IKE retreat in 2012.

Checked for filters -- none set. Enabled HDR and the HDR version of the test photos I took is much better. Will try it outside again and see if there is a dramatic difference, if any.

I think the best results will be had with a real camera. Worth lugging the extra pound.
