Re: 2009 Grand Haven Kite Festival

i probably will not be going to any over-night, distant kite festivals this year, due to Marla still having health issues. i will be going to local stuff, though.

Marla is doing better; but she is still on enteral feeding exclusively and still has significant neck pain.

Re: 2009: April 18th, Monee Reservoir Kite Fly

i may go to this one, but it depends. Does anyone know how big the fields are?... or if they are surrounded by big trees? The trail map (at their web site) seems rather limited.

Re: Cephalopods

Cool! Very kite-like in the way it hovers!

i collect fossils and have a lot of cephalopod fossils. Many i have, from the Silurian period, are well over 400 million years old. i have both coiled and straight forms... and semi-coiled too. They've been around for a very long time! :mrblue:

i work as a teacher for the multiply handicapped. In less than 3 years i'll be retired... and will consequently be flying kites more, i hope!

(i recently fell on some ice at work, and busted up my arms, back, and head pretty good... but i'll be OK for flying kites still, thank goodness.)

Happy holidays to everyone! We just got out internet fixed, after it being down forever; brother! i'm still home with Marla. Re: My Wife's Operation...

Thanks much everyone; we're very appreciative of your kind thoughts and words. Marla has finally come home! It's been tough though... as she has a (temporary) gastrostomy tube in her stomach; but she is not tolerating the enteral formulas very well. It may take some time; but i strongly suspect that...

My Wife's Operation...

Hi everyone! i'm still in the hospital with Marla (Rush Presbytarian St. Lukes). She's approaching the two week point, but will probably be coming home soon. Her reconstructive neck surgery took 11 full hours; it definitely seemed like eternity! She was given titanium support from vertebrae ...

Re: Music Video With Kites

 Sweet! Very elegant video; the kites add to a flowing, rythmic movement! Only it would have been cool to have a brief moment of a dual line kite in the "Fade" position while she sang the lyrics of: "Thoughts of you in my mind... are starting to fade."
