Re: Local Fun Fly In Vegas

It sure would be great to have you guys out here. Right now the rates are really cheap due to the off-season. Just tell me when your gonna arrive and I will pick you up at the airport. :)

Thanks for the comments. We had a great time.

Local Fun Fly In Vegas

So, we put away our stunt kites and power kites yesterday for a day of single line flying. A bunch of us got together and launched up some of our larger single line kites. We even had a small Rok Battle brought about by some gusty winds. Morning was pretty discouraging with winds gusting up to 25-30...

Re: Computers Learn To Fly Kites For Renewable Energy

Seems to me that if they were to concentrate on the kite moving in a straight line instead of figure 8's then they would have more control over the kite. Think of this.... Put the kite controls on a long steel runner, similar to a train track. Then launch the kite and have it start to pull the mecha...

Not really that popular, but have a listen to "The Gold Bug" by Alan Parsons Project. I was flying to that the other day and it was pretty kewl.

Re: Sharing I.K.E. Photos

We have some aerial photography of our '07 NABX buggy event. These are taken by a high res camera from a helicopter, not a kite but they turned out pretty kewl. It was morning time and unfortunately the wind was nearly non existant so not much kiting in the air but it made for a great group shot. Th...

Re: Consignment Stuff

Al,

What is the actual size of the Caterpillar if you happen to know. Also, what does this kite need to inflate/launch. Does it actually fly or is it a ground bouncer?

Thanks.

Ray Stevens did this one in a song.....classic and hilarious! Would make a very interesting kite routine if done right.

Re: Venting My SLE

One trick that I have learned when sewing through sticky tape is to use a sponge wet with rubbing alcohol. Just rest the sponge against the needle while you sew. The tape won't gum up the needle and the alcohol evaporates pretty much as you sew.

Hope that helps.

Re: Decisions, Decisions...which 1.5 To Get...?

Jeff, The thick spar is the SLE (super leading edge). This spar is larger diameter than the standard 1/4" spar and is included in the 1.5 SLE kite and as an option for the Rev 1. The SLE comes in 3 wrap and 4 wrap combinations. I would recommend getting the B-series standard, here are the reaso...

Re: Babbman's Rev Collection

I think you would be closer with the P90 rods although they still wouldn't be as light and as strong as the Rev rods. The Rev indoor rods are very skinny, smaller diameter than the P-series rods by about half. They are smaller than the standard 1/4" rod supplied with the 1.5 and EXP.

Re: Indoor Rev Spars?

Actually they should be "The Advantage 1.5 - professional use only" for your indoor. These rods are skinnier than the standard 1/4" two wrap rods in your Barassi. The indoor should have "Inserts" instead of "end caps". The inserts go inside of the smaller rod with ...

Re: Leading Edge Spars

The spars used in the Barresi series is the exact same rods used in the standard 1.5 SLE kites. You can interchange them with each other no problem. You can also purchase other strength rods for the Barresi just like the 1.5 and interchange those as well. Just make sure that if you slide a SLE into ...

Re: E2 Submarine

The B-series Rev DVD has a section on it where John submerses a Rev into the water on several occasions. One in particular he drops the kite in leading edge first, spins it underwater and it emerges leading edge first. Very cool. Only way to get the video is to purchase the B-series Rev...it comes w...
