Re: Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

I got my new 1.5B full vented with a set of 2-wrap a set of 4-wrap. Since 1.5SLE with 3-wrap pulled out from EXP is still there it completes a set (for now).
Got 120' lines too so I can enjoy space and all excited adjusted and resleeved few other sets :)

Thank you guys for the advices!

Re: For Sale/Looking For

It depends what do you want to do - buggying, kiteboarding, kitesurfing or just jumping on a beach. With a larger kite it's a good idea to get a harness as well to hook the kite to. Some people happily jump with handles and no harness but I'd say you'll get you hands tired quickly. If you get a depo...

Re: Kite Jumping

You take the kite from 10 o'clock through top of power zone speeding it up and turning it upwards and somewhere between 12 and 1 o'clock it'll pull you up, especially if you have a 4-liner.
HQ Rush 350 is a very stable kite but you're going to need a strong >20mph wind to lift an adult on it.

Re: Short-lined?

Other than getting a new set or cutting the long lines and resleeving the set you can try making lightweught pigtails and compensate the short lines closer to the handles where the weight wouldn't matter taht much.

Re: Kite Jumping

I got some lessons from a friend of mine, watched few youtube and instructional dvd videos too. Instructional DVDs are usually for water though.
What and where do you fly?

Re: Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

What about 1.5 B Pro made of "the best Icarex cloth"? Does it make any difference?

Re: Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

Thanks for detailed explanation. Can you clear some more mystery for me please? In the SUL set is it the sail which is different and lighter than regular SLE or it's the 2 wrap rods that allow to lose 3 ounces on the complete kite? For a vented kite what combination would be better - mid vented, or ...

Re: Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

Yes Mike we did meet before, in fact it was you who introduced me to Revs three years ago. I'd be glad to try the combinations. I'll be checking the quick fly's then... I have two more questions now - What is the difference between EXP and SLE sails (so when I use EXP rods in SLE wouldn't I end up w...

Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

I got an EXP, 1.5 SLE and shokhwave. I like EXP for the light wind days while 1.5 SLE returns better precision. The shockwave is a whole different toy and having plyed with foils they pull my hands out of my body in a more gentle way. I'm thinking of a next step to get a nice precise rev for wider w...

Illegal Kiting

Happened to me back in September on a beach at Ocean Shores, WA. I rented a MBS mountainboard, took 3m foil and 13m LEI to the beach which was flat, wide, long and smooth. It was gorgeos which i couldn't say about wind - it wasn't strong enough for 3m but the 13m would pull me just well. So I rode q...

Winter Flying C-U?

Didn't find a "Going to go flying now" board, let "General Discussion" be the the substitute... It's cold outside but I wonder if anyone is still flying in Champaign-Urbana or around. I'm also trying to find a big and smooth (ok, at least unplowed) field to play with power kites ...
