Re: October 17th Chicago Club Fly?

Me and Shari are going to be in the city for a Keller Williams concert that night. We may be able to come up early and fly. I got a chance to see northerly Island last month at another concert, Nice park. Where do you normally fly at? The far southern end? or just past the planetarium?

Re: Kite Rookie

Give Chicago Kite a call, tell him you need a three wrap leading edge for a rev 1, he will be able to order it for you. make sure you get Revolution spars, a bit more money but well worth it. Chicago kite has a link at the top of this page. You may also consider getting a new larger set of handles, ...

Re: 2nd IKE Family Picnic

Me and Shari are in, That morning at Perry Farm there is a walk for SIDS, Shari is walking in it. It starts at 10am and goes until everyone is done walking. I am unsure of how many people are going to be involved, and how crowded things will be. Anyhow we will be there, wherever it is decided to hav...

I use firefox for everything, I am a big fan of it, plus it is safer for your computer than IE. I have never had a problem logging in. Something in the settings with cookies or the like? Check out the add-ons when you get a chance, alot of cool things. I use a couple refesh add-ons for my ebay stuff...

Re: Custom Handle Information

The coolest thing about powder coating is watching the powder melt and glaze over. And it really is that easy, as long as you are a stickler about starting with a clean base metal. Other than that it is pretty simple and foolproof. It is easier than spray painting with a rattle can. Just need more t...

Re: Custom Handle Information

I'll explain the powder coating part, as Tom requested. For those who don't know powder coating is a method of painting. Instead of being applied as a liquid paint, it is applied as a powder, then baked on. It only requires a few tools and can be done in a garage. You need an electric oven (no gas, ...

Re: KAP - Getting Started, Suggestions?

The best radio solution would be a Spectrum or DSM radio. They secure two or three open channels, and will switch to the back-up frequencies if notices a problem. The local hobby shop carries a Spectrum radio, it is a single plane/car/kite, with a reciever and a couple digital servos for $125. It ca...

Re: 2009: Perry Farms Kite Festival, August 15-16

The park isn't very big, and the open field is right in front of the parking lot. Just park right by the red museum. Turn in right next to Big Lots, and the entrance is right there. From there you won't have any trouble finding everyone.

Re: Painted Rev 1.5

I will be at the festival next weekend, along with the kite. I will have to try your method of removing the paint. maybe it can help my touch up problem. the paint doesn't go on well with a brush. And I have been doing something similar with the brush anyhow. Spraying a bunch into the cap. I am not ...

Re: Painted Rev 1.5

The kite was purchased as an all white Rev 1.5 sle. I am not sure how many of the sails are around, but I think it should be a fairly easy item to come by. I like the white they use, it is so thin and translucent. The paint is Design Master colortool. Kitebuilder carries it, but I had a hard time ge...

Painted Rev 1.5

I finished painting my Red Bull Rev 1.5 yesterday. It started as a all white sail, and after a whole day of masking and spraying here is what I ended up with. For the most part I am pleased with the results. I did have a problem with the mask on the yellow pulling off a bit of the red on the bulls. ...

If anybody needs help with directions or local knowledge let me know. The field is easy to reach from I57 and I55. unless you are coming from pretty far west 57 is better. If anyone is coming down 55 there is a couple short cuts so you don't have to come through dwight.

Re: Northern IKE Club Fly - July 19th

I have 1 standard sail 1.5 that someone can fly in kankakee plus I am sure there will be others with a spare kite or two. The orange stuff is pollen from either corn or soybeans. (i think) I haven't noticed at the park in Limestone, but it just depends on the fields nearby, and how far along they are.

Rev UFO?????

Does anyone on this forum have one of those UFO revolution kites? What is the thing exactly? A kite, A big frisbee on a string. I can't seem to find a single video of the thing in action. Just curious. Thanks
