Re: Brand New Bag

Slightly off topic. But I noticed you said your son has his address on his rod tube (The tube is a fine idea BTW - I also have a piece of foam rubber in the ends to stop the rods knocking around). Over here, buglers cruse airport check-ins looking for people who look like they are going on holiday. ...

Re: What About A Blast?

I have a couple of older B sails that are really going well. Look almost as good as new. But I understood from someone who should know (if you see what I mean) that the newer revs are icarex and my newer ones are not aging as well. I stand corrected though on this newer cloth.

Re: What About A Blast?

What Jeff and Babbman said :v: :v: I too cannot tell the difference between the sail patterns. I do have an opinion (Flame suit on) that icarex suffers from a short life and is prone to breaking down under stretch - it was a cloth that was used about 15 years ago in sailing for spinnakers, but only ...

Re: What About A Blast?

Although I really like the Blast, I am not sure I would say it is the 'best of both worlds'. It is great fun, pulls like a train and fabulous at light wind 'floats'. But precision is not really its forte. Your suspicion is well founded I would say. IMO your thinking on IIs is spot on. I have tried t...

Re: Half Pint Project

Just to be totally clear for third parties, I havn't flown a Chinese kite either. However the Chinese people I met in Qingdao last week were facinated by my genuine rev, especially when it flew in the sea.

Re: Half Pint Project

Good work Tom. I used to use double sided seam tape but found it too troublesome in terms of gumming up my needle. Now days I use Sellotape (scotch tape in the US I think) or pritt (a very weak childrens' glue that comes in stick form a bit like lipstick). How did you use holes to make a LE vent on ...

Re: 180GO! Fan T-Shirt Help

Seems the aussie/british/american translation broke down ... must be the "look through a knot hole" size screen on the iPhone thing. I think he means to use the Aussie Doh! When a little off the wire there, I of course meant ob 081. "B" and "D" are so easy to confuse f...

Re: IKE Travel To A Kite Festival In The UK? France? Spain?.

Dieppe, NB is closer but not much cheaper. Last time I checked it was $500 a ticket. It's a much smaller festival, but I'm thinking of going to that one too. ... And no croissants in the champs elysee overlooking the louvre with the eifle tower just across the river, no enjoying a slow pint of beer...

Re: Lindsey Johnson Making His Wooden Winders

These winders are commercially available in the US; right? How is it they are better for carrying more line sets than a plastic winder when they are much larger?

Re: IKE Travel To A Kite Festival In The UK? France? Spain?.

I have to say I am totally ignorant of festivals on the continent, apart from Berke. The thing that immidiately comes to mind is that the UK and the Europe festivals may not tie up. The bigger ones here are portsmouth and Bristol (although the wind can be a bit on the odd side at Bristol). So that w...

Re: IKE Travel To A Kite Festival In The UK? France? Spain?.

Sounds like a good game to me - count me in. If it should turn out to be UK based clearly I would not have far to travel, but I should like to offer my services as IKE's local agent - airport runs, tour bookings, hotel recommendations, etc ;) If the geography were right it would be my very great ple...

Re: 180GO! Fan T-Shirt Help

All the previous thoughts about it being too busy sum my thoughts too. I have to say I am with Jinx on the "fan club" issue, although I understand the concern from the team. There is something a little 'childish' about the term fan club to me - it reminds me of school girls (between the ag...

Re: New Blast & Supersonic Rods

They are really sweet in very light winds, but they flex in a really weird way when you really load the LE. Once you get used to that it is not a problem though.
