Re: New Quad Flyer ...

"Ours is not to question "Why?" Ours is but to fly or die" Who said that? Somebody must have said that. :? I believe it was Alfred Kite Tennyson, in Charge of the Kite Brigade . (if you're really curious: http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/britpo/tennyson/TenChar.html ) I'm starting ...

Vertical Hover

Since I'm 50 miles away from the nearest REV flyer, except for five minutes with Mike Stephenson, all of my instruction has come from forums and videos. One of the latest questions on the REV forum is what do flyers want to see in a new advanced video. Hmmm. Seems like something is missing for the n...

Re: Handle Adjustment Knots

All right ... I think I've got a handle on this topic ... Today the winds were between 15 and 20 mph. Used the last knot on top and the first knot on the bottom ... approximately 4 3/4 inch of brake. The handles were balanced in my hand around the middle finger with the tops of my hands even with th...

Re: Handle Adjustment Knots

... Mike is right. Get some good help ... Jim, Thanks for the words to the wise. Yes, I do plan on attending the club fly on the 28th ... didn't want to advertise it too much for fear folks would run for cover. I did have problems with the kite flying too fast ... always thought John B was simply f...

Re: Handle Adjustment Knots

More brake should not be considered more macho! MORE MACHO!!! After following the input in this column, and changing my brake setting, I now think that zero brake is the real macho setting ... shut up, grab on, and hang on ... 90 mph around the wind window until it crashes into the ground. With no ...

Re: Handle Adjustment Knots

... I'd like to know how people feel about flying with more brake. Wow, today I actually saw my kite today ... usually it's just a blur that I fight to stay up with ... well, it wasn't really quite that bad ... no actually it was! Until today, I've been flying with a measured 1 or 2" of brake....

Re: 2008 Frontier Kite Festival - June 7-8 - Naperville, IL

Since I'm new to the club, this might be an ignorant post ... if so, just roll your eyes and ignore it. My RC club has a "press release" type of document that we have available to hand out everytime we see a media person. Media folks are always looking for facts(?) and data(?) - well, at l...

New Quad Flyer ...

If you're reading this forum, it's probably too late, but just in case I feel it's important to warn folks to stay away from Mike Stephenson. At the Pontiac Kite Festival, his true colors really showed through. With an innocent smile, he invited me to fly his Rev kite. Little did I suspect that he w...
