Re: Kite Flying For Dummies... The Backspin And The Barrel R

Stanley has more strings (something like 4)... wink: So, in secret, you really do love four strings!! I forgot to say it ... neat video ... and very talented work with Stan. There's plenty of work available you and Stan in the Rev world. You should really come over to the dark side ... as one of th...

Re: Quick Fly

Mike ...

Sorry, we were up in Chicago for a family reunion. The winds in Chicago were great ... 15 to 20 mph most of the fore and afternoon. Hope they were good for you too.

Hope you rolled Shawn out of the house ... he's only a few miles from the park.

Cheers,
Tom

Re: July Club Fly: Saturday, July 19 At Northerly Island

Darn ... showed up with the wrong kite again! The winds were very light and the rain wasn't! Ken, Jeff and Kathy were there with their SUL kites when I got there around noon ... since it was still raining when we first got to Chicago I took a side trip to Dave's kite shop. Isaac and Tibo showed up a...

EETWiz, I'm sorry, I've been talking all around you ... Welcome to the club. You've joined a great group of very friendly, helpful folks. However, if you want to stay a one line flyer, you'll have to avoid several really infectious individuals. A little over six weeks ago, I owned a delta kite that ...

Mike, Let me restate what I think I heard you say: On my Windows 98 machine, the video seems to play right off the website. However, it is actually being downloaded to a temp file (buffering) while it is also being viewed. On my Windows Vista machine, something has changed which prevents the downloa...

Opps, forgot one other fact ... Tom, can you check this one out? If the video is downloaded and stored on the compter, then Windows Media Player will function correctly. Any of the REV videos that I download will work, once they're on the harddrive. Hmmmm. Here's one of the websites where WMP doesn'...

Tom, I don't want to grab your topic, but let me describe either the same or a similar problem with my computer and see if our IT folks can solve both our problems at the same time. I've got a ten month old Dell Inspiron 1520 with Vista Home Premium. The hard drive sounded like it had sand in it, so...

Kite Flying Is For The Birds ...

Had a very neat experience today. The winds were out of the east, so for the first time I went to my R/C field to try it out for kite flying. Winds are generally from the west and there are trees along that side, so most of the time it's not good for kite flying. As soon as I was airborne, a swallow...

Ken,

Do you think Mike meant July 20th this year or last year? Well, if it's this year, we'll be there. If it's last year, we probably won't be there. This kite flying stuff is really confusing.

Re: Oh, I Forgot The Sleeve!

Here's the kite sleeve. What, no matching shirts and shorts? In this day of disposable "stuff", it's a pleasure to watch an artist develop something truely new and unique. I should have expected a kite sleeve like this one ... it's just exactly the type of "doodling" that people...

If you didn't make it to the Quick Fly in Pontiac today, that was probably a good thing. You should seriously consider staying away from events like this! See, Mike Kory and Mike Stephenson were up to their old tricks ... trying to infect others with this kite virus. Let me explain: 1) I show up wit...

Re: Lynn's Basket Weave "Rev"

I kept waiting for you to explain what Lynn was going to do to fill the holes. So, I used "lattice work" to search the REV site for Ben's kite. Hmmm. Found out, you're not going to fill the holes! That will really be one vented kite. How do you expect it to fly? What wind speed is it desig...

Re: Current Projects

If they have a second set of rods, what do most folks do with them? I tried just leaving them in the Rev kite travel sleeve ... had to pull them out each time to put them back in at the same time as the kite. It was a little like learning to use chop sticks ... they were all over the place if you we...
