Re: Kite Party 12: March 8-9, 2014. Huntington Beach, CA

I just wonder if it's really up and running-- it says "registration full" and doesn't show a list of 2014 registrants... Two things ... one; I'm going by what Dave posted on GWTW: Hey gang, Just thought you'd like to know that Kite Party 12 will take place March 8-9th, 2014. Registration ...

Re: Empty Spaces Kite Sale

Neat kite ... good catch. Looks like you've got an afternoon's project straightening out the bridle lines. Then maybe some tuning since some of the keels don't look like they're carrying their load ... or is that just 'cuz it's low to the ground? Do you have a closeup of one of the first keels? It l...

Winter time is great .. don't want to screw up some good flying weather. ROK is also great ... building pics are already available.

Re: I need your help

Mike shared the secret handshake with me. If you're on the last slide, hitting the right most button doesn't do anything. Back up to the slide you want to start from (most likely slide one) and then hit the right most button to start the continuous animation from that point. Thanks for taking the ti...

Re: I need your help

Okay, no one reported any major problems, so I tried it on my Verizon android phone. It worked great. Screen is 2.25" X 3.25", so it shows up well ... about an inch of unused space at the bottom of the screen though. Guess the picture is square ... shows at 2.25" X 2.25" on my ph...

Re: Blown Cell Repair on Parafoil

The repair looks good. The first time you do a "burrito" roll, it's a little disconcerting. Looks like you didn't have any problems.

Welcome to IKE and the forum. And, thanks for posting pictures of your repair.

It's a good starting point. See how it flies and how it pulls and then adjust the line from there is really what I'm suggesting.

Re: Empty Spaces Kite Sale

This was posted in kitebuilder a few years ago ... line strength has been changed to match your 30 sq ft kite: Going by the rule of thumb of "multiply the number of square feet (of the kite) by 5, and then use line rated for that many pounds", you would need 150 pound line. That estimate h...

If you were in the 9 X 9 matrix at WSIKF, John Mitchell is putting together a name vs position chart on the facebook thread . I posted Big Mike's position ... right beside me and goofing off the whole time. Plus Jim Foster who was right behind me. And, Lynn's position ... she was right beside Jim wh...

... I think wind meters tend to get used to settle arguments between kite flyers about the current wind speed . . . Waiting for Jeepster to chime in . . . . I'm pretty sure he'll recommend getting a good one if you are going to get one :-D Settling arguments would be my input. They prove that most ...

Re: Rev II questions

3. Did this come originally with 11" handles? The very original ones came with 9", measured across the gap. It flies well with 11" (which is what they'd sell you now, I think). With 13" handles you will have to be more careful not to over-control the kite and "bowtie" ...

Delta Conyne Build

It's getting so I cringe every time I end up flying with Tony Killip. At Kites Over Hoover Park, he launched a Sun Oaks Delta Conyne kite while we were waiting for the winds to pick up enough to launch the foils. Darn kite stayed up all day with no attention needed. Hmmm. Investigated and investigat...

... I really think all the variants of race frames were made so kiters have something to debate. Now that's funny!! Kiters will argue about everything ... which spectra line is best, which kite is best, which color is best, which fabric, where to eat, when to eat, what to drink, when to drink, when...

Too bad. They always seemed like they had the potential for damage, but I wonder if there's any reports of actual fires stared by them. This info showed up in the morning paper: LONDON — Top British fire officials are calling on the public to avoid using paper lanterns after one such contraption sp...
