Re: Some Favorite High Wind Kites

Hey, an old thread resurrected. :-)

For really, really high wind (20+) I have a '97 vintage vented Tramontana framed in P300s. Bullet proof.

Nowadays if the wind is up I'll be flying the vented rev 1.5. Sweet.

Re: A Little Kite Party 6 Video

Times change... Anyone geeky enough can roll thier own. Hardware choices are a bit limited right now. Uber Geeks have to figure out how to make a certain HW configuration run and then pass the knowledge down to the masses. And no, I'm not a machead. I have one of the little MacMinis for the ...

Re: A Little Kite Party 6 Video

My understanding was that you should upload to YouTube at it's preferred res. of 320x240. Getting a clean half size file was the hassle. Exporting out of iMovie into some reduced size always looked funky. I now know how to make it work fairly efficiently, but it was a lot of messing around to get th...

Re: A Little Kite Party 6 Video

Thanks guys. I have a whole video with just quads and quad people. Be patient. I made this one quick to have something to show civilians who've heard me rave about KP. I had it done a few days after KP. It was 640x480 and looked great played from DVD. Looked like crap when it was reduced for on-line...

Here's a little KP6 video.

There are more in the can, but I'm having technical difficulties and time constraints.

A Little Kite Party 6 Video

Well, here are some "snapshots" of people flying on Saturday at KP6. The video quality is funky 'cause I don't know what I'm doing and the camera is shaky because, well, I'm shaky. [:I] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb55_hajJ_A The music kicks ass, but I can't take credit for that... I ha...

Or, how about Grand Haven?

Or, Mots?

We'd love to see you again.

I'm hoping for MOTs or something late summer.

We're suddenly down to one income. Sucks. At least it's the big income.

Maybe the InnerSpace? a great SUL.

I'd say folks fly the DeepSpace down in the 2s and 3s with practice.

Re: Light Wind Kite

The PDSUL is never gonna pancake to fade. It can be brought into a fade from an axle, but it ain't easy. Once in a fade it's tough to get out. Nice axles & 540s, though. 540s take a specailly touch. "BIG WING SPAN kite, able to do tricks, like axels, flick flacks and fades, 540's; just thos...

Re: Light Wind Kite

Hector, you've got a Deep Space, right? In that case a Zeph isn't going to get you much at the low end. A lot of people fly the DS in very low wind with no weights and the upper spreader removed. For a tricky UL (not quite SUL) the HQ Shadow is very nice. Easy kite to do tricks with. I didn't find i...

You know you're addicted to kiting when... Your co-workers make up the nickname "kitehead" and it sticks. Your first date with your future wife includes stopping by the P.O. for a triangular box then flying the new kite during the romantic sunset on the beach portion of the date.

Re: Light Wind Kite

The NikNak is a nice kite but only slightly less old skool than the Pro Dancer. It does some basic tricks OK, but is pretty outdated. The iNak is a smaller trickier kite if you want to stick with Skyburner.

Neat!

How often does it refresh, or in other words how much time does it represent? Real time? Visits per week?

Mine's from KP2. I was a lot thinner then. Taken by Dan Whitney. I was flying my Wedding Genki, hence the smile.
