Re: Kite Party - 2008

I'd like to go to this too. I have a g/f in LA, I'll have to talk to her, maybe she can let 1 -2 people stay. Bad news is she does foster care for cats, has over 20 of them. So if you aren't allergic to cats and can tolerate the smell.....

What part of LA is it in?

Re: Beginners Rev

I'd be really happy to be on the dark side as long as I can get it off the ground and not sitting in the closet with my Prism.

Didn't come today.

Re: Beginners Rev

Re: Beginners Rev

I'm jealous Jeff, it's beautiful. I think I finally have my order together, just pricing it out. Is 13" handles the better way to go? I'm 5'9, not petite. I should get around to posting a picture of me on here. Getting the 1.5 SUL, 1.5 SLE bressler (spelling?) vented B with # 3 & 4 wraps. I...

Re: Beginners Rev

UGGHHHH, the decisions. I think I have this narrowed down, but if I'm wrong, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I need 2 kites, light and heavier winds. Kite 1: 1.5 SUL for light winds Kite 2: 1.5 SLE vented with 1/4 inch frame set, Standard B with 4 wrap spars (Do I still order the 2 & 3 wrap with this?) Than...

Re: Beginners Rev

WOW! :thanks: Thank you all for so much information and the replies! It really does help narrow it down. Leaning towards the 1.5, but not sure which one yet. When I get some sleep, then I'll come back and reread all of this. I can't make it to Perry on 8/12. It was the only weekend I could get a cab...

Beginners Rev

I think your right Jeff on conditions playing a big part in this. This could get costly getting a different kite for Chicago's weather. From reading about them, some are harder more sensitive and not good for a beginner. Looks like the rev exp, rev 1 or 1.5 are the way to go. I went to the rev links...

Watching all the videos on rev has been truly amazing.

What do you recommend for a beginner, a REV 1? w / wo SLE rod

Is anyone selling a rev that would be good for a newbie?

Re: IKE Quad Team!

::Bangs kite on head:: Thanks for pointing the link out for the winds, totally missed it.

I have a stress fracture on my right foot, which makes driving a bit uncomfortable. If the wind does not pick up, I'll pass. Can't do frisbee right now. Wish everyone was closer. :(

Re: IKE Quad Team!

What is the best site to check the wind? If the wind is decent I'll be out around 1 too. Has the location changed? Or are these still the right directions? >>It's at the corner of Bethel Dr. and Career Center Rd. in Bourbonnais. It is not far from Perry Farm. Take Interstate 57 to Bourbonnais to Rt....

Re: IKE Quad Team!

I'm coming! I don't crash kites, can't get it off the ground to crash into anyone. But I am looking forward to meeting everyone and watching. 9 am though, yikes, you are a cruel one. Is it about 2 hours from NW burbs of Chicago?
