Re: It's Never Too Early To Think About MAKR

Here's an email our glorious new region 6 director sent out in August regarding MAKR for 2009. Hope I'm not out of bounds posting it here! [ b]Proudly presenting the list of instructors and classes for MAKR 2009. Don’t forget, it will be held the second weekend of March, the 13th thru the 15th in ...

Re: New Date For DeKalb OCT 5th 2008

Oh, i guess we'll be there....lol.

After all, it's only 10 miles away!

I've almost gotten all my kites repaired from Naperville and Chillicothe so i might even get to fly something.

Re: Current Projects

I've got to repair my big delta, a sudden gust of wind slammed it nose first into the sod and snapped the center spar and ripped out the ends of all the pockets. Three others need minor repair too. I've also been procrastinating working on my roc. I have the sail built but have to figure out how I'm...

I forgot to mention that this is how Paul Fieber told me to make these simple aeolians.

Thanks Paul!

Re: PVC Aeolian...those Loud Noisy Things.

I'll take a couple and get them up this evening. We have a "Concert in the Park" but after that I'll take the time to add some illustration that should clarify the pieces and steps.

PVC Aeolian...those Loud Noisy Things.

I had a lot of requests for instructions on the creation of these wierd natural instruments at the Naperville kite festival so here we go... Materials: 10' of any size PVC pipe you might have or want to use. Pick whatever size you can fit in your car and you can afford! 2 "T" shaped connec...

Re: Al Stark - Dekalb?

We got hold of Al for the first DeKalb kite festival in '06 and he came out with some of his paper creations. They were beautiful and really neat to see. I was unable to find his info last year to remind him about coming back. From the pictures, it looks like he hasn't lost his interest in kites May...

Re: 2008: April 19th, Earth Day And Kite Fly In Oswego, IL

Ha! If I can get the Wazo up in the air, Michale will have the option of being a 3 line filer and put you all to shame! Actually, in Chillicothe he got to pilot the Thunderfoil (with assistance) so I guess he cut his teeth on 2 lines. Next year we'll get him a sewing machine and he can help make sta...

Re: Oregon, IL Kite Festival

We're likely to be there too, especialy if Drafty and crew are there! At least some of us should be. I hope to have the big delta fixed by then. In a huge wind gust, it did a power dive at Chillicothe last weekend and snapped a 1/2 inch graphite spar and tore out the ends of both side pockets! My MA...

April 5th there's a local fly in Chillicothe IL too. It's near Peoria. Nice little town by the river. If I remember correctly, three sisters park has some impressive open spaces!
Chillicothe is where I married my lovely bride!

LOL, Saturday's weather is supposed to be nice, we're expecting around 6" of snow between Thursday evening and Friday night! :rotfl

That could make for some interesting flying. I guess the kites won't be on the ground so it should be ok, right?

I'll be there and hopefully have some of the family too, just to sport a few IKE shirts!

I finished the MAKR star train today so that will be up and maybe even the Wazo, if I ever figure out the lines!
