Re: Decatur April 24th And 25th 2010

One good day of flying. The festival had an interesting display of Hi-Flier memorabilia. The company was founded in 1920 in Decatur. They had photos, plates used in printing kites, as well as a few kites. 180GO! flew well with Big Mike doing the calls. Nick and Chris did kite play with the small ki...

Sunday's my birthday, so I expect a full chorus of singing out on the kite field.
Even if I'm not there, I want to hear it from Grinnell :)

Happy Birthday Mike!!! Hope you got to do something special...

Holy cow, an IL kiting event which actually falls on a non-work weekend!! Unfortunately, there are no less than THREE kite festivals / fun flys being held in central Wisconsin on April 25-26. Therefore, this kiter will be staying "in state". Hope ya'll have a great event though! :) Hey fe...

Well, shoot. Didn't know this one was coming. Don't know if I can do it with the short notice. hey ya'll :) Didn't know about KOS myself until the other day when I happened to be cruising the AKA's events calendar. Checked the weather forecast for Sycamore & on Saturday it's supposed to be 35-4...

We'll be there. Or JJ will, if I perish from anticipation before. It could happen! :bash: I'm submerging in a weekend of painting kites and building aeolians. Hopefully a very Zen and much needed escape. In spite of what SOME would say, it's not a cop out, not to have a sewing machine to haul aroun...

Re: Madison, KOI Anniversary

Well...I'll have to admit that I was a "leaker" & didn't head down to the fly in Madison this past weekend as planned. Sorry!! Good excuse though...my 'new' kitemobile was still at the repair shop undergoing some major surgery ($$$$). Still don't have it back yet :( There appeared to b...

Re: 2008 Festivals

Mike, The date you have listed for "Color the Wind" is incorrect. It'll be taking place on Saturday, Feb. 16th...not on Sunday the 17th. Also, if you would....please post the Fish Creek Kite Company's "Kites Over the Bay" event. It's two days, February 9-10th. We'll be flying jus...

You mean the routine that is in the video I posted above...about 6:15 into it? That would be Dan Newman flying his stack of 5 rainbow colored kites. I don't know the version of the song offhand, but it shouldn't be too hard to find...[/quote] Thanks Jeff  Good job with the video by the way!! Jef...

Re: 2009 AKA Convention

I don't know anything about the Fox Cities area. They didn't send any photos and Google Maps doesn't have good satellite photos of the area. Anyone else know anything? Jeff Hale should be able to tell us something, by merely looking out his window! Hey Jeff, do you want the convention in your back ...

Re: Kites Over Lake Michigan

A spectator at the KOLM event recently wrote to me asking: "I was at a kite function in Two Rivers recently and really enjoyed it. I loved it all, but fell in love with one show that shows 3 kites doing a show to the music of Over the rainbow. I would like to know who the sax player that played...

Good! Tom, thank you for bringing that up. Let's have some more suggestions for festivals. Chris, was there any kiting security / safety people lined up at the Dekalb festival?? I not talking about police... At our recent KOLM event, we had at least 2 such people on duty at all times. Mike Wagner (...

Re: Suggestions For Kiters At Festivals

A couple of suggestions for all kiters... index cards with info on the kites and kiters bio's would be helpful. These could be turned in at the sound booth at each festival and would be a *huge* help to anyone running a sound system. I know this takes some effort, and doing bio's of oneself isnt' e...

Mike, Thanks for posting our upcoming event (think Grand Haven...only on a smaller scale) Would've done it myself, but wasn't sure it was allowed on here...seeing as this site is sponsored by another kite shop.
