Re: 2010 DeKalb Kite Festival

Had a great time at DeKalb! It was good to see some old faces again. It's been a long summer, and this was my first event of the season for me  . I hope I can get one or two more in before the snow falls!

Re: Naperville 2010

They were cancelled for the 3rd, BUT...

will now be held on the 4th, in three locations!? They say the city will save $1 million, by closing the taste early, and reducing the need for police presence.

The academy of model aeronautics requires a 3 mile separation between flying sites, to prevent frequency interference with radios on the same channel. Just somet...

Re: 2009 June 6-7, Naperville Kite Festival

I don't know that I can make either day this year. My daughter has her first ballet recital (never thought I'd say THAT!) on Sunday at 1pm and dress rehearsal on Saturday at one also. I'll try to get out for a couple of hours, but it's not looking good...

I do believe "in like flint" originated from the James Coburn movies of the same name. Loosely based upon the James Bond movies, but far more entertaining IMHO...

Re: Which Rods???

Why do you add the 3-wrap instead of changing out the 2-wrap? The 2-wrap and the 3-wrap leading edge together weigh about the same as the 3-wrap SLE. Since the SLE is about twice as stiff as the 2-wrap and 3-wrap combination, it might be that, once again, you like the softer feel of the two choices...

Re: Which Rods???

I typically fly with two wrap whenever possible. I prefer the "softer" feel of the lighter rods. Especially when the wind picks up, the vented with two wraps is a special feeling indeed  When things start to get gusty, I've recently started sliding a three wrap in with the two. I don...
