Re: IQuad With Nick, AKA Mike Stephenson

Thanks Mike! You're all right! Yes, it was a bit of an off day as far as the names were concerned, but all's well that ends well.

Who was that on the mic? (or is that Mike, or Nick?!). Gosh, it took them all weekend to finally get the names right!

Re: Kite Party - 2008

Whenever Josh, Zach and Dan fly, they put their kites into a hard golf case. It has served them very well over the last number of years. Be sure not to lock it, as the lock will get broken upon inspection. Another idea is a large (in diameter) piece of PVC piping. We put the kites into the PVC pipe ...

That was a really great article; I thanked David Hathaway in person when we were out at Nationals. The positive publicity was just great!

Re: Regional Director

I haven't heard of anyone who might be interested in running. The AKA forums have some specific areas dedicated to regional information as well as some really good general information for those new to kiting or the AKA. The website can be found at AKA.kite.org I agree with Mike's statements and hope...

Re: Halloween Photos

Thanks Mike! It was lots of fun to create that pumpkinburger! I used real food to help the whole thing look better! Elizabeth used iron-on transfer paper to put her name and the logo of a favorite book series on her lab coat. We got that and her "doctor" bag at our local Salvation Army sto...

Re: 2008 Festivals

Don't forget about Nationals! You don't have to be a competitor to enjoy one of the best and most exciting festivals of the year! (Of course, it wouldn't hurt!) And you don't have to be a sport kite competitor, either. There is kite making, fighter kites and Rok battling! Next year will be the first...

Re: Suggestions For Kiters At Festivals

Well, thanks for the compliments! As Chris wrote, I agree that it's important for all everyone participating in a festival to be recognized, whether they are flying sportkites, huge kites or have added to the ambiance by bringing other wind toys and ground displays. (No finger pointing, Jeff, just w...

Re: Gusting Winds

Hey, it's the Midwest guys (frustrating winds always!) You will have skills way above and beyond those coastal flyers! :-) We were out flying yesterday and experienced much the same thing. Elizabeth went from flying her standard Mamba (yes, it's a dual-line) with wind breaks on to setting up her ven...
