Re: Quick Fly Kankakee - Saturday, August 8, 2009

I might chicken out because of the heat. I was getting too hot at the last Kankakee event, and this one looks to be warmer still.

Or else I'm going to need to get an extra large human sized cooler to retreat into at regular intervals.

Re: What About A Blast?

Okay, looks like things are looking more or less like I figured they'd be. The thing about 1.5s is that they can sometimes feel a little boring to me. The one thing that I've been struck by as I watch other people fly them is that they tend to look a little slow and stodgy. I saw the 2 and the speed...

What About A Blast?

Okay guys, I've been through the other quad kite purchase threads. I've assimilated the wisdom contained therein. I'm not actually certain I'm ready to make a purchase yet, the idea of spending potentially over $300 on a kite still bothers me. But.. I have enjoyed the loaners I've been able to fly s...

Re: Northern IKE Club Fly - July 19th

We had 2 power kites, 4 duals, a single line and 4 quads going today No way. We had one power kite and a parafoil. After flying Wendy's beast I'm never calling mine a power kite again, I've experienced real power now  . My kite is a nice, practical little parafoil. It handles nicer as well...

Re: Northern IKE Club Fly - July 19th

Is that a hedge maze I see from satellite? Well this is a coincidence. I was just up in that neck of the woods last Sunday, just a bit more to the North. Actually I only barely escaped.. there was some sort of an incident on 294 when I was driving out, the Southbound side was reduced to a crawl and ...

Re: Saw You Guys At The Naperville Kite Festival

Yep, I saw the Lisle site. I was doing a little checking up in Google Earth to try to find out where that Perry Farms place is and ended up clicking on a link that loaded up the entire location list into the program. So that's handy.

I'll have to check it out some time soon.

Re: 2009: PrairieFest, June 21 In Oswego, IL

I just made my introduction over in the intro area, I first found out about IKE from the Naperville event. Can I get in on this? The flying, I mean. I've got a 2 meter parafoil that I'd like to be able to take up. But the thing is, Sunday at the Naperville festival was the first time I'd ever flown ...

Saw You Guys At The Naperville Kite Festival

I was the guy in the blue and black hat that was given a little instruction on one of the quad line kites. I really appreciated that, I'd been wondering what it was like to fly those things for years. I don't know if I really made this clear, but it had been over a decade since I flew any kite. I ca...
