Re: SHOCKING Experience!

I have had similar things happen from masts during really humid, stormy conditions if the mast has not been properly earthed, or sometimes on a steel radar mast. It sure makes you go and check the earthing strap pretty quickly. Never had it with a kite though - they do say this is the sort of feelin...

Re: Looking For Friends To Fly With - New To Kiting

Scott You will find this kite flying millarky is a great way to meet new people and make friends. I know I am biased, but some of the friendliest people I have met have been kite people. You have also landed on your feet by finding this site - IKE members have been some of the most welcome Americans...

Re: Improving Standard 1.5 SLE Experience

What previous flyers have said about skinny frames and vented is absolutely right IMHO. If you are looking for 'bang for buck' fire your bucks at the frame. Forget the SUL - nice but absolutely not necessary. I personally find there is not a lot of flying difference between good quality cloths irres...

Re: Kite Party 8

When will you be in SF? My race arrives there in early April, about the 7th (although that is approximate). @ MIke - I know there are several people over here who would like to take a trip over, but some are doing other big trips this year while others are struggling personally struggling with the ...

Would love to see you all again: Really love to. Still have the red shirt (Thx Mike) and everything. Unfortunately work precludes the possibility of me coming. Re: Custom Handle Information

Looking good! The Hyperlon is definitely the way to go. I am sure powder coating is just fine too. We had some anodized over here but 20 or so of us had to group together to make it even half way economical. Anodizing just isn't a small quantity process. We also added a grove top and bottom where th...

Re: The Rev SUL Bridle

Babbmans post got me thinking about light winds. I used to hate them, then almost a year ago Mike gave me a floating lesson at Bristol kite festival. The lesson was revisted some months later at KP7. I now know any old un-vented rev is just fine in the light stuff. So, the best way to make yourself ...

Re: The Rev SUL Bridle

Additional: The lines tend to come off where you larks head them onto the bridle in my experience. This is because the knot in the bridle attachment point is pretty tiny and does not provide a good grip for the larks head on your lines. Solve this in one of 3 ways: 1) Make the bridle attachment poin...

Re: Custom Handle Information

One of our guys over here made me some beauties. Not sure which grade of aluminium they are, but they are very similar to what are often called 'pro' handles. He has added a grove at the top in line with the hole the leader goes through. This is because that is almost exactly where most people place...

Re: Brand New Bag

When our maid came round while we were away on holiday a few months ago she left the front door unlocked - was unlocked for a week! We were lucky I guess.

Like you say, probably overly sensitive; We all are these days.

Sorry for being OT - back to bags.
