Hi All!

A quick update on the DeKalb Fest. The event continues to grow and gain community support thanks to the DeKalb Chamber.

One of the new vendors this year will be making event t-shirts onsite. These can be customized with names, team names etc. Prices are reasonable with t-shirts running $15. They will also have hooded sweatshirts. An ice cream vendor is joining this year, and Imbodens will be cooking up some amazing food.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Not having flown all year due to other activities I miss you all!

See ya next week!

I know someone with a Wolf that I'm sure would let you try it. I tried to PM you, but your Profile is set to not accept PMs. If you change your profile, I'll send you his info.
Keep an eye out for Club Flys at Northerly Island. Great place to fly, not too far for you, and plenty of kites to try.
_________________
John
OK,

Another variation on a theme reacting to Big Mike's comments.

: A1

Does this keep them looking distinct from a distance, but not your ordinary Rev?

Asymmetric version:

: A2

I think I like A2 the best. Adding the 180 Go! logo in panel #3 will also help with creating a custom image.
_________________
John
Both kites are awesome and great for a first kite. Both designs are slightly dated compared to the newer kites on the market but still, you can't really go wrong with either one. There are actually three versions of the T&T (Trick & Track) available, one was made by Premier, the other was made by Sky Burner which is virtually the same kite as the Premier version. Jon T. from Sky Burner designed the T&T and then released the design to Premier to build the Trick & Track. The Sky Burner version is much better as it is made from Icarex material and the details on the kite are more refined. The latest version is actually made by Alphakites (sp?) and is a very awesome kite built to todays standards of tricking. The Alphakites version is somewhat rare to find here in the U.S. but if that is the one then by all means, that would be the best of the three. I haven't flown the Alphakites version myself but have seen video and heard others who really like the kite.

If the T&T is not the Alphakites version, then I would probably suggest something a little more advanced or modern compared to the two you have listed. Something like the Widow from Premier or the E3 from Prism. The E3 is awesome because it comes with the Freestyle Pilot DVD which will give you tons of help learning to trick. If you have someone close to you that will help you advance then the DVD is not nearly as important and I would probably go for the Widow as it is an awesome tricking kite that can do pretty much everything.

Another suggestion if you are on a little more of a budget would be the Addiction, Nighthawk or Wolf, both from Premier and run around the 100.00 mark each.

Some other great kites to look at:

Silver Fox series from Flying Wings

Ocius from Skyburner <-- my latest favorite kite

CrossFire from Sky Dog Kites

Acrobatx from Flying Wings <--2006 kite of the year and ultra affordable

Hypnotist from Prism <--also comes with the DVD

Hope that helps you get going. If at all possible, fly before you buy. Kites are like women, every one has their own personality and even though they may look very nice, they may not match up with you right.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
_________________
Happy Winds!
Well here’s go my two cents worth, B looks allot like another Quad team who name I will not mention (light on one side dark on the other). A looks like any other stock rev, so if they were the only chose’s I would have to say A.
Thanks for the tip, Jynx. We're booked for the night of the 11th. Looking forward to maybe seeing you there. If you see a guy on the beach with a bright rainbow fake mohawk it might be me. 3 more days till I get my first real stunt kite. I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas.

Why would the vented kites need to be a different pattern? Aren't our current vented kites striped like these?
While I understand that version A looks pretty much like the stock kite, I still tend towards that one.
I'm not sure that there's enough difference between the two kites in that version though...
Well, the red and black kites with the white stripes (v3) I like too, I'm just not crazy about the triangle on the other side

My vote is for symmetrical red/white and black/white. When I looked at the monitor from across the room, the differences were still noticeable and the kites seemed to show more motion. I think the alternating white and color causes a "flickering" that catches the eye more.

Most web browsers let you right-click on a link and choose to open the link in a new tab.

Mike,

Very cool animations. I like the ability to do full screen.

FYI

Most browsers will open a link in a new tab with a middle button click. Saves a click and is really fast for opening multiple links on a given page.
_________________
John
I see what your saying about the stripes but the asymmetry has a new edgy thing going on... try this one
A desert state response

I liked the third example:

A mostly solid color on one half, and striped on the other half.
_________________
Wind to your back, Kite in the sky
I like the asymmetrical as an individual kite. I think it looks very cool. But in the animations they don't have the pop the striped kites have.

If it was a personal kite i would pick the asymmetrical with the logo, but as a whole formation, the stripped kites look great.

I vote striped.
