Six parties fielded candidates in the election, the first time since that Maltese voters had that many parties on the ballot: [1] The Labour Party PL of incumbent Prime Minister Joseph Muscat held a majority in the legislature since the election , with 38 MPs at dissolution. They never consulted a think tank, or outside intellectuals to help them explore new avenues of thinking or anticipate attacks. Replete with mistakes, misprints or outdated pledges, some 2, copies were printed in the third week of the campaign, some given out during activities, to councillors and candidates.
